Swinging It

Hailey says "Thanks" to my SPS Co-Workers for the nice swing! She liked it so much she fell asleep!!! Not sure if that makes it a good swing or bad swing. But I vote 'Good'.

And I will also apologize for the close-up on the plastic blue bird butt.
Say that 5 times fast.

Hee-Poe-Mah-Pah-Tuh-Mus

Falling asleep in a Hippo's mouth is the perfect place for a child to nap!!

I would recommend not attempting to lay on one of these yourself. The distance between the mouth of the hippo and the wet-noodle type contraption that toys dangle from is too small and wider shoulders, torso or butt will easily pop the noodle out of the socket and potentially could smack you in the face. Or the Hippo in the face. Not that I tried or anything (sheepishly looking around). But theoretically speaking anyway, I believe it would not work well. :)

Quickerts for Dinner

(...And no we did not eat them)

Thank you Maren and Karl for bringing dinner over tonight! Can't wait for our babies to meet each other!! (and the apple pork chops were awesome!!!)

Ok, Ok, I know what you're thinking. Why would you put a picture like this up?
Actually, I wanted to take a vote.

Which face of Hailey's do you think this actually is.
a) The "Packers just scored a touchdown" Face?
b) The "Mommy Burp Me" Face??
c) The "I'm going to take that camera and throw it in the trash" Face???

Bouncer

Here she is for the first time riding in the 'bouncer'.

Some would call it a 'baby neglecter', but to be able to set her in something that she likes to be in so we can eat together is a very nice thing. Thanks to my co-workers for such a very nice gift!!

**Bouncer Disclaimer** If you, or someone you know, is using one of these, be sure to allow at least 20 minutes between the time your newborn has eaten and placing baby in the bouncer on vibrate mode. It appears to greatly increase your odds of continuous spit-up and/or drool. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Here we are celebrating our first Thanksgiving together. We got Hailey all dressed up in some new duds (Thanks Maren and Karl for the pretty pink hat and Grandma Jane for the sleep sack... Or should we thank heaven? I dunno.)

Sleeping on Mom again while we watched our first Thanksgiving day football games.

Cashed out. Too much turkey for this little pumpkin.

So I would have to say that our first holiday was a success. We had pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Sandwiches for lunch. And a festive Connie's pizza for Dinner!

To take a page out of Peter King's Monday Morning QB on SI.com... Here are 5 things I think I think:

1. I didn't think I'd have ever believed that I could hold a little baby, get spit up on, and still think she's the cutest thing in the world.

2. I really wonder what babies are thinking. I mean, think about it. They don't know any words, so in what terms are they thinking? Look at this pointy thing (commonly known as a finger). Then, OUCH, that hurts my eye (but she doesn't really know what an eye is).

3. How I could ever think it's hilarious that while I'm typing, Hailey is laying on my lap. Makes a few short coos and other various baby noises. Then I look down and she's making all these cute faces. Then passes gas like nobody's business. I'm surprised that she doesn't fly right off my lap sometimes.

4. She makes this sound that is either a chipmunk or, as Darlene described today, Woody Wood Pecker.

5. Ok, so I ran out of things to think about. So... in lieu of anything else. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My First Day Out

Here we are after surviving our first trip out that wasn't to or from the hospital!!

We actually went to downtown Minneapolis to my place of employment. My co-workers threw us a shower that was supposed to be last Wednesday but someone (not pointing fingers) wanted to be born a little early. Thank you soooo much to everyone who chipped in to get Hailey some really nice things!!! I will be sure to get pictures of them in use sooner or later!

1-1 Now

Ok, so the Packers' record is 1-1 now in Hailey's lifetime. But judging by our scorecard, Hailey is 2-0 in the cuteness department wearing her Packer 'get-up' (Thanks Grandma Jane!!)

Here we all are. Us3, Grandpa and Grandma Zier.

Thank you sooooo much Grandma Jo for all your help this last week. We all ate really well and it was always nice to have the extra set of hands while we adjusted to having the little one around!

EYES!

We've finally been able to capture Hailey's eyes! Maybe this will start a new theme.

Her eyes are open and if she could talk would be saying, "Dad, you need to shave."

She's starting to be interested in her fingers. Her first attempt at sucking her thumb ended with her thumb partially in her mouth and her middle and ring finger in each eye.

Try is yourself: Pretend someone just asked you how many pieces of French silk pie you ate (Hint... you ate 4). Hold up that number with your hand so your thumb is tight to your palm and your palm is facing towards you. Now try to suck your thumb. As you can see, fingers in the eye are not fun.

Starting a New Theme

If you look closely at this picture, you can see that Hailey has lost her umbilical cord!

Hailey and Mom Sleeping!

Ok, you don't have to look anymore. I just wanted to share the news that it's officially sayonara for that milestone! Although, we don't know where it actually fell off, so if you're coming to visit, beware. Actually we're fairly certain it stuck to a diaper and please no digging through the diaper pail as there is no reward for finding it.

New Theme? I'm hoping for a new theme soon. As cute as it is that someone is always asleep in the last few posts, I'll have to see if she can master some new tricks. On the other hand, she is starting to wake up for a longer periods during the day. About 23 minutes at a time instead of 18.

One Week Old

Today marks 1 week since she was born! Wow how much we've been through. Sometimes it seems that we've always had Hailey around. Other times, I can't believe it's already been one week. We have learned so many things about her!

For instance, here is what we've learned that she likes:
1. She likes to sleep
2. She likes to eat
3. She likes to be held (might roll this together with #1)
4. She likes clean diapers

Here is what she dislikes:
1. She doesn't like dirty diapers
2. She doesn't like her bath yet (although, she does like it when she's clean!)

All-in-all, it's been a great week though! Thanks to all who've called and visited!!! We really appreciate it sooooo much!

Enough text. Onto the pictures!

O.K. I'm busted. She saw the flash.

My Next Move

I was able to manage this picture while she was asleep on my lap. I'm pretty sure she's pondering what her next move will be.

Ah-ha! Lo and behold. 2 hours later, she's decided to sleep some more!

Hailey Jane

Survived the First Night

Well, we survived the first night at home. Many times switching between me rocking Hailey in the chair while Darlene slept and me sleeping while she rocked and fed. OY. Sleeping for 8 hours straight anymore is for the birds.

Anyway, here is what makes it worth the effort. Seeing our little Hailey already cheering on the green and gold!

Check out her sweet socks!

So. Quick little story about the socks. I got the Packer socks and pacifier for father's day this year. I couldn't believe that we'd have a little baby that would fit into them. And I was right. She doesn't fit into them. They are still waaaaaay too big!! But what makes it worth it is that she is way to cute wearing them.

Next picture post will likely entail... the grandparents :-)

Drum roll please!!!

I would like to introduce ... Hailey Jane Fenner!!!

Born: November 9th, 2006 @ 12:27 a.m.
Weight: 6 pounds 15 ounces
Length: 20 inches

She was actually grasping my finger!
90 minutes old!!!

Here she is only 2 hours old right before her first bath (which I actually helped whilst mom took her own). Already cool, calm and collected. No idea where she got that from.

Hailey and Daddy.

And lastly, the glue that keeps us all together...
Hailey and Mommy!

We will hopefully be home by Saturday evening. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers on this extremely exciting day for us!!!

Room nearly ready!

Here is probably a last post before the big day. The big day is currently on pace for December 5th. However, due to advances in medical technology, only 4% of babies are born on their "due date". So they assure us that the baby will be born between November 14th and December 19th. (a span of 5 weeks for the calendicular challenged) Isn't that exciting?

There are some very minor things to do, but we are definitely ready for our baby to sleep! As Darlene pointed out to me tonight, "there are three official sleeping pieces for the baby."

Crib, Pack and Play, Bassinet. Easy as 1, 2, 3.

Here is a closeup of the border. Thanks again Joe and Meghan for your help!!!
